Ski Safe!

1. Always stay in control! Be sure that you can stop or avoid other people or obstacles.

2. People downslope have the right of way. That means it is up to you to avoid them.

3. Don't stop in the middle of a trail or slope. You may cause an accident!

4. Don't stop in a blind curve or below the crest of a hill. The other skiers cannot avoid you if they cannot see you!

5. Whenever starting downhill or merging onto a trail, be sure to yield to others.

6. Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment. Use pole straps when NOT on the lift.

7. Watch for warnings! Closed trails and slopes will be posted.

8. Make sure you can load and unload from the ski lift prior to riding. Others will be unloading directly behind you, and may run you over!

9. Carry a trail map in your pocket.

10. Dress warmly to avoid frostbite.

11. Wear sunglasses to cut down on glare from the sun and snow.

12. Make sure your equipment is fitted properly before riding the lift to the top of the mountain!
