Here's a suggestion for what to put in your shopping bag when you're at the market -- and what you can whip up with it at home!
What to buy: Pure maple syrup
Tell me more: Forget artificially flavored “pancake syrup” and go for the real thing. Pure maple syrup is a natural sweetener made from the sap of maple trees. It has a delightful caramel flavor; it’s unrefined and contains valuable minerals.
Goes well with: Beyond sweetening breakfast foods such as waffles, French toast, and pancakes, it also goes well with citrus fruits, and is delicious drizzled over sweet potatoes. Also try it instead of sugar in your tea.
Try this: Drizzle pure maple syrup and sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon over orange slices. It turns ordinary fruit into a delicious dessert.
Did you know? Grade B maple syrup has more maple flavor and costs less than Grade A.
